While blog hopping the other day I stumbled across the website Cocoa and Hearts and fell in love with the colorful art. It is so bright and cheery and definitely affordable. I have picked out several I would like to buy for my house! They gave me great inspiration for creating some DIY art for a client. I don’t want to discourage anyone from buying one of her pieces but I couldn’t help but think a recreation (I use that work loosely here!) was feasible. And in this case it was all the budget would allow for. Obviously the originals are much better but I think mine gave this room exactly the punch of color that it needed…

|I started by mixing lots of colors to get just the right shades. I used my kids washable paints and craft paint.|
|Once I got the right colors I numbered them and mixed them in bowls with corresponding numbers. This helped me remember which color was which while painting.|
Ok, so this is not my client’s house. When I put it in her room it just didn’t work. I brought it home and stuck it on my mantle to protect it from my boys and next thing you know it has found it’s permanent home. Well, permanent until I get sick of it or use it somewhere else.
