So yesterday started with Taylor’s (old) car finally biting the dust. Suddenly we need a new car. Awesome. By lunch I had rear ended someone but to call it that is a major over-statement. I literally rolled into him at about 1 mph but apparently I hit the world’s most neurotic car-obsessed dude there is. Note to self, do not be distracted by your Chick fil A while coming to a stop behind a man seriously in love with his car.
Anyways on to design talk. Earlier this year I shared this design board I came up with for my sister’s dining room…
I gave her my interpretation of a modern-rustic dining room and she really took the reigns from there. It is always cool to see where things go from an initial design board. Her color scheme changed a little because she ended up putting navy in the adjoining living room. She also went with a different chair combination, which I love! Here is her version of an Anthropologie-meets-Ballard dining room…
You’ll notice that the dresser is different than the distressed wood version I suggested and this was a really budget-conscience change. When her family moved a lot of there furniture did not fit in the rooms as it had previously so they had the same struggle as a lot of new homeowners…where does everything go?! I pointed out to her the alternate uses they could get out of things, specifically a dresser…
They ended up taking my advice and using their master bedroom dresser in the dining room. It now functions as a bar as well as storage. Don’t be afraid to move your pieces around and see where else they might serve a purpose! It can save you lots of money!

I love the tips about using a dresser in the dining room. Your dining room plan as well as your sister's version of it are both so pretty!! What a bummer about both cars…when it rains it pours.
