would you…vertical stripe it?
As you know I just turned my mudroom into an office and already I am itching for a change. When I moved my desk down the stairs by myself, the last thing I was thinking about was painting too. I was thinking about the fact that I could very well fall down my stairs only to be discovered by my sons with a desk on top of me but painting…no not right then. But now that the desk is safely moved and my back is no longer sore I am ready to spice things up.
I absolutely LOVE stripes on anything. In our first townhouse we had khaki and white stripes in the bathroom and I just did them in the Sarah’s House makeover. My closet is full of them, my son’s headboard is covered with striped fabric, love love love them. So naturally I need to paint stripes in my mudroom. Couple of problems with this…1). I hate painting stripes. Its tedious and takes precision, two qualities I don’t do well with. This means I have to sweet talk my husband into painting them or at least taping for me. 2). I may very well have to re-paint the whole room first with primer and white to get the results I want. Right now the room is a mocha/khaki-ish brown and I was thinking white and grey or navy. Again, I am going to have to bribe with back rubs and other promises I won’t fulfill.
So…would you take on that work for stripes or just leave the room alone? To make this even more difficult I am even thinking that I would like to do chevron stripes. I wouldn’t even know where to begin but it would be soooo cool. Opinions? I could leave the brown thats there and just alternate with white or I could paint everything in order to have grey or navy and white. Here are some photos for thought…
If I do decide to go the chevron stripe route here are some directions I will follow:
