outfits for our family photos
I am so excited about our family photo session this Friday! Not that I am looking forward to trying to keep my hair looking good while wrangling kids, but I am so excited about the actual photographers. I have been dying to get in with Lucy and Steven so I jumped on the chance to book one of their mini-sessions. Funny story- I had my alarm set to book the session the same morning we ended up at the dentist for Harper’s emergency appointment. Hoping these guys can photoshop in a couple of teeth for her 🙂
I want our outfits to be comfortable but a little more special than just everyday clothes, which if you read yesterday, that means not pajamas for me. I actually found this dress for Harper first and fell in love so I just coordinated everything around that.
(Here is the actual vest I will be wearing. The picture on their site is over a dress so I knew it would be confusing on my board. It is so soft and a great price!)
the best lighting while packing
I have my 3 nieces in town this week so that my sister and brother-in-law could sneak off to Costa Rica. Lucky dogs! We are having a blast doing all things girly and letting them pretend to be Harper’s babysitters. By the end of this week, though I know I will be ready for a break and luckily I just so happen to have a girls trip planned to Savannah. I haven’t been back to Savannah in a while and I can’t wait! There is always good food to be eaten, plenty of shopping, and hopefully, if the weather cooperates, we will be able to lounge waterside.
I pulled out all of my spring stuff to figure out some outfits, but in typical mom fashion I had to wait until everyone was in bed to get a moment alone to look at everything. I was literally in the dark trying to figure out what to pack. Luckily for me GE has just come out with their new Reveal halogen lightbulbs and I was asked to do a review. To be honest I wasn’t sure that a lightbulb could make that much difference, but I decided to give it a whirl. I switched out my regular bulb for the GE Reveal and was pleasantly surprised. Here is my lamp before I switched the bulb. I didn’t edit the color of any of the pictures within this post!
Although my lamp was providing a soft glow, we all know that when trying on clothes it’s nice to have good light. Since it was already dark outside while I was playing dress up, my artificial lighting had to work overtime and with my original bulb I was just getting that typical yellow glow…
Presto chango….here is a picture right after switching to the GE reveal bulb…
I hadn’t even realized before how dim my lights were, but it was really obvious after using the reveal bulb. I usually go around my house dimming lights because I don’t like a harsh glare and these bulbs totally passed my test. No dimming needed, they provide the perfect bright light without inducing a headache. So, I am a believer and will definitely be switching our bulbs over!
