Welcome to my fall tour! I am actually calling this transitional fall since the weather is still blazing hot. As much as I love fall the typical fall colors don’t make their way into my house all that often. I tend to lean to greens and blues but I feel like you can pull out shades of those and mix in some warmer tones to make fall work even in the breeziest homes.
Marty from A Stroll Thru Life is the mastermind behind all of these wonderful tours and I am so lucky that she asked me to join in! If you are coming here from No Minimalist Here welcome! After today I hope you will come back regularly. I share posts each week on home decor tips, my shopping finds, and updates from around my house and clients’! And I am Instagram addicted so make sure to follow along over there too! I am so excited to share a few things I have been doing to make my house more fall-ready…
This is my vintage wreath that greets everyone at the front door. I snagged it at a great local store here and I think it can really go with any season.
Our porch is a staple all year round except for the 2 or 3 really cold months so we cleaned it up a bit.
I also decided to put our table in storage for the time-being. We don’t really eat out here once it gets cooler so I prefer to have more space. I swapped out some throw pillows and gingerly moved around what plants I haven’t killed. #miracle
For me, fall just means a more muted palette around my house so I swapped out my coral pillows for more metallics. Rumor has it that in stage 2 of fall decorating our living room will get a dose of mustard and olive green…
Greenery is a year-round thing for me so I just pick up whatever is in season or growing in my yard. I grabbed this eucalyptus at Trader Joe’s and I love how long this stuff lasts!
And throw blankets have to be everywhere in my house starting in the fall! I love layering a couple like this on my couch for a punch of pattern…
Throw some taper candles in a vase or box for instant charm!
More earthy wood and green on green…
Over in the dining room I set the table with this great runner I found at HomeGoods.
I was drawn to it because it definitely has a beachy feel but I layered it with a few fall accessories and I will add more layers as the temps drop.
I always love using green apples and gotta have cozy pillows everywhere!
I added this little gold shelf recently. As with everything in my house it was relocated from another room (Harper’s nursery) and it may or may not stay here. I am liking it for now for extra storage. I am using it to hold linens, glasses, wooden cutting boards, and cook books.
And on the other side of the room are my bookshelves which bring me unlimited joy. I really can’t explain how happy I would be if I were paid to solely style shelves the rest of my life!
For fall I removed some of the peppier colors and stuck to mainly golds and greenery.
And on the other side is my brand new (old) bar.
More on that another day 😉
The other parts of our house are getting fall layers as well. A cozy blanket, more candles, and scattered plants.
And the last area I am sharing kinda of makes me sad. Last you saw our mudroom it looked like this…just a mere 4 months ago.
The bathing suits and flip flops are packed away for book bags and lunch boxes.
Even though I am not the one going to school anymore it is still sad when the long summer days are over!
Thanks for going on my little tour, I hope you liked it and gathered a few ideas for your own fall decor! As I mentioned, this is my transitional fall decor and stage 2 will follow. As the month continues I will share how I am adding more layers and continuing the fall vibes!
