I need to share something with y’all today. I am the least competitive person in the world. I don’t say that like, aw I’m so humble. I say that because the thought of competing for something gives me anxiety. It feels like so much pressure and the thought of everyone’s eyes on me makes me just want to curl up in a ball and die. I remember distinctly one day in 6th grade one of my friends and I liked the same boy. Somehow it was decided to just ask him which one of us he picked. We were watching a movie in class that day so we had to wait through the entire filmstrip for his answer. I’m not gonna lie, I thought I had it in the bag. So the big moment comes for his answer and he says….Trisha. My name is not Trisha for those of you new around here.
If there is a competition I have always been happier to just watch except as I get older there have been things I honestly really felt like I wanted and/or could accomplish so I am not as content just sitting on the sidelines. Yay for growing up! When I heard about Creating With the Stars I got really excited. It is a huge blogger series hosted by Monica & Jess of East Coast Creative and is a chance for “rookie bloggers” to be paired with “mentor bloggers” to create really cool DIY projects. There are themed weekly projects and voting until the winner is whittled down. There are some amazing prizes, but more than anything I think the experience would be amazing. So much better than my 6th grade boyfriend debacle 🙂
I looked back through my DIY projects and decided to share one of my favorite (and easiest) projects. It’s feasible for any skill level, functional, and cute. That’s good DIY if you ask me.
(I originally shared the post on Calling It Home and you can find all of the details through this link.)
I used the Linnmon Adils table from IKEA as my base and a Glanta tablecloth.
Folded in half, I did not have to sew or hem, the tablecloth fit perfectly around the table.
I simply used adhesive velcro strips along the edge of the table and the fold of the tablecloth to attach it.
And I styled the area above the bar with some DIY scribble art (more details here).
Framed between sheets of plexiglass and secured with gold bolts.
I was feeling very Palm Beach Chic at the time so I used a mini palm and flamingos:
Some accessories have changed but here she is today…
The flamingos took a break and made way for a little lucite goodness:
And, of course, some great bottles for mixing!
But, without a doubt my favorite aspect of this table is still the hidden storage:
Few things in my house stay put for extended periods of time, but this bar has not moved an inch. That’s a sure sign that I really love a project. I hope you all will show me a little love and go vote for my DIY bar. Let’s hope this is not another Trisha situation. There is a wildcard pick this year and they are basing it on which project link has the most clicks. To get to all of the project links go HERE. Then just look for my project.
