I always thought that only mothers of girls had issues with clothes on school mornings.
Turns out I was wrong! I have two very different boys when it comes to clothes:
one couldn’t care less and therefor can’t match a shirt to shorts to save his life. The other has very specific opinions about what he wears and can be really difficult to dress. Neither of these are conducive to school mornings so I devised a quick and easy solution.
All you need are hooks like these and hangers with clips.
I found some at Target for $3.50/3-pack.
I didn’t see them online but they are in store.
Here’s the plan:
Each Sunday choose 4 outfits
1.Fold the pants in half
2. Lay underwear flat on top
3. Lay out socks individually (makes it thinner for hooks)
4. Fold shirts and lay on top
5. Clip to the hanger
Lastly, I hang all four outfits on each son’s hook.
The boys will get to have a say in what goes on their hangers for the week, but by choosing everything on Sunday I can look one time at the week’s activities and weather and lay out choices accordingly. And I only have to haggle through the choices with them ONCE a week. Each morning the boys know to just choose the front hanging outfit and get dressed before coming down for breakfast.
You may notice that there are only 4 outfits/boy. I let them earn a “free” Friday with good behavior. If they show respectful and kind behavior at home and school all week they get to wear whatever they’d like on Fridays. Trust me…Fridays are going to be entertaining around here. Think lots of neon and navy on black. Bless.
