Who would of thought that using cowhide rugs would become so popular. They seem to be a staple among designer rooms these days. And I get it, I love them. They are that perfect mix of rustic yet classy. They add texture to a room and make it immediately more cozy and welcoming.
Lately I have seen some new twists on this trend and I have to say I am really liking them. You might remember my post on the emerald green cowhide rug, here. I still think that rug would be a great statement piece in a room and it somehow comes off neutral to me. Layered over a jute or natural rug of course and with simple neutral pieces in the room.
I have also come across some tiled and mosaic print versions of the rugs. I really like this first one with all the neutral colors and texture.
Then there is the splatter print, more pattered rugs for a more authentic look.
And now people are moving away from the typical cowhide to other animal hides. I especially love the antelope rugs and runners.
The antelope print, to me, is the least “animal hide”-looking. It is very understated and almost comes off as just a great graphic print. I am also drawn to polka-dots so it really does it for me.
What are your thoughts and opinions, would you use any of these rugs or do they make you cringe?
