If you follow me on Instagram then you saw this sneak peek yesterday…
My kids had a great time playing on this massive rug while it was rolled up but, I couldn’t wait to unwrap it! But, let’s back up a minute and talk about why I was even looking for rugs. My living room has long been my least favorite room to decorate. It is a long narrow room and our front door opens directly into it.
Here it is a couple of years ago…
Since then I have moved and rearranged furniture
Painted mirrors, swapped out pillows, added a new sconce
Created new art, hung a gallery wall, tweaked accessories
Changed curtains, added casters to the table, but….
The rug never changed. Our living room has gone through many changes and although I am moving closer to a look I love, the rug situation was not quite there. I ordered this Target jute and wool rug a while back because I was really craving some texture but the 8×10 was not big enough. I was ecstatic to partner with RugsUSA so I could find a better rug solution. I knew I would start with a large jute rug and large it is…
I ordered this 10×14 jute rug and it almost fills the whole space. I know I am breaking some type of rug rule by not leaving a border of my actual floors but, I kind of like how the rug almost becomes the floor. Eventually this decision will make even more sense but more on that later.
This rug is super soft and adds the perfect amount of texture to the room and more than any of that, my favorite thing is that the rug really defines the space more accurately. Now all of the furniture sits on the rug so it really feels like one cohesive room.
I cannot wait to show you part 2 of this rug decision but, unfortunately that will be a little delayed because my next rug choice is on back order. I spent a lot of time debating which style to choose, like a ridiculous, insane amount of time. Like, I may have looked through every single rug on their site and forced most of my loved ones to look too. When it comes to big pieces I get very gun shy. But, I think I chose a really good one. I will show you some of my contenders next week and see what you think! Here are some of the images I poured over to gather inspiration…

Tricky right? I was leaning in about three directions at once. Next week I will share how I narrowed it down to three final contenders.
