Hey and welcome! If you are new to my blog here is a little background info…
I am a Charlotte-based blogger and decorator. I share client updates, projects from around my home, and a variety of tips and resources. I also have three kids ranging from 2-8 and a big affinity for HomeGoods, reality tv, and styling bookshelves. You can always find me over on Instagram and Facebook as well! Anyway, glad you are here and let’s get going on my tour!
I recently shared my early fall transitional decor that you can see here. I am not a big theme decorator so seasonal decor for me is mainly colors that go with the season and rotating accessories. I like my house to match my mood for the season and for fall that means…cozy, layered, and soft.
My house, in general, feels pretty light and breezy but I tried to add in some of my favorite fall colors…mustard and plum. When the weather gets cooler I like to stay in with good food and friends so I focused mainly on our entertaining areas.
The Dining Room
We have owned this farmhouse table for 8 years yet this is the first time I have used a tablecloth.
I always hesitated to cover up the pretty wood but I am really loving how this layer of fabric softens up the room. I chose a simple checked pattern and it adds the perfect amount of texture.
You can shop some of my other favorite plaid tablecloths below.

I also swapped our table settings from the yellow and blue motif I used for “early fall.”
I have a couple of go-to tips if you want your house to feel more pulled-together on a daily basis:
make your bed everyday, light good-smelling candles, and set your table!
We eat here most nights, which means I have to move the dishes, but I’m telling you it’s so worth it to walk in and see this pretty set up!
I also have a new love for colored taper candles!
The aqua may not be the obvious choice for fall but I love how it pairs with the mustard and plum flowers.
And speaking of flowers they are my other secret weapon for creating a welcoming home!
You’d be surprised the impression it gives just having fresh flowers.
Aside from making every room prettier, they also make it seem as though you went out of your way for your guests. How my house feels and makes others feel is number 1 to me!
Another easy way to make your guests feel good is by having a good bar set up 😉
You saw more of this repurposed gold shelf in this post.
I use it for a little extra bar storage but the main drink station is this armoire I recently stripped and repurposed. I am absolutely in love with it!
Balancing things out on the other side of the bar are my favorite shelves!
They give me an endless playground for styling.
For this go round I just added lots of warm gold tones and kept things pretty simple…
I always work blue in with whatever seasonal decor I am using because I like for it to be a constant in our house.
Doing my thang
I wanted to add another dose of plum to the room without spending a lot so I grabbed a blank canvas I already had and some craft paints from our art supplies. I mixed some red, blue, white, and yellow until it was this pretty berry shade.
My painting “technique” couldn’t be easier…just dip the tip of your brush (I used a medium sized flat edge brush) and then dab on the canvas. I would dab the brush, straight up and down, about 10 times before refilling with paint. Alternate the amount of pressure you use to create varying strokes.
It creates an easy and organic piece of art!
Next door in the living room I simply added some eucalyptus to the mantle and grabbed some luxe velvet floor cushions. I love the idea of impromptu game nights or casual nights hanging out by the fire and these make the perfect spot!
And now moving onto to my fun makeover!
The Boy’s Room
To see the boys room before check out this post.
I was actually happy with the “before” but we wanted to create a hang out spot for the boys.
In addition to creating their little man cave, I wanted to bring in some new bedding and a rug for fall.
The olive green quilts, flannel blankets, and shaggy rug really give the room more of a cabin feel.
I went thrifting for some fun accessories to go with the retro camp vibe.
(I will share a complete source list next week)
For this gallery wall I just shopped our house!
One of my favorite items is the old boy scout hat. It was my dad’s when he was little and it goes perfectly with the theme of the room!
The retro camping stool was a fun thrifting find as was the squash racket!
Thanks for all of your input on the rug! I went with this moroccan shag because I loved the asymmetrical pattern and I feel like it can transition as they get older.
