As much as I want to ignore it, my third and final baby is just about ready to leave the crib behind. Sniff sniff. That crib has been up in our house for the last 9 years and it really is going to be an emotional moment when I take it down. To help brighten the moment I am trying to get excited about a “big girl” room design. I started putting things together and decided that it would be fun to pull a couple more looks together just for fun. I created a boy and girl version and did both for under $2000! I tracked it all in my itSums account so you can easily shop the room and stay on budget.
For the boys version I wanted to keep things sweet but hip. I threw in an ikat rug and a tribal pillow to add some edge. I also mixed patterns with red gingham sheets and triangle curtains. To keep the room from being too overwhelming I stuck with a solid grey quilt and all white furniture. The yellow nightstand was one fun pop of color. And every room needs art and I love this ocean print!
For the girls version I also mixed patterns but kept them a little more soft and dainty. I love the floral sheet set and the reversible duvet. It can be either polka dots or stripes, both very versatile patterns. The buffalo check throw pillow brings a more modern on-trend element and the over dyed rug is a great piece that will transition with the room even as she gets older. The curtains are simple with a girly ruffle, perfect for a big girl who is still not quite big. The art for this room is my absolute favorite…every girl needs a swan in her life!
