Archives for September 2015
As much as I preach the fact that I am not a big holiday decorator I do appreciate making my house feel appropriate for each season. Summer…bright and breezy with an emphasis on outdoor living. Spring…more organized with cooler colors coming in. And fall/winter…adding layers to make things more cozy. All I want in the fall is to have a comfy lounging spot, soft blankets, a fire and candles, and endless bowls of soup!
When I included my boys’ room makeover in my recent fall tour, I did so because the changes were initially spurred by the changing season. I loved their room but I wanted it to feel a little cozier for fall. I technically only changed a couple things but the room feels so much different. I think this type of seasonal decor is a lot more functional and it gives me a chance to rotate some items throughout the year.
I like to start with a quilt and add a warm throw folded at the end. Swapping out cotton sheets for jersey knit (bonus for a fun print!) is another way to add a fall layer:
Welcome back from the weekend! Anyone already feeling like having a drink?! Ha ha just kidding but I do have a great bar to share with you. I had this antique armoire that my old neighbors gave me when they were moving. I used it in my oldest son’s room when he was little and eventually it made it’s way into my sons’ shared bedroom. You can see a peek of it here…
