Finding large art that doesn’t break the bank is not easy. Original pieces can be in the thousands and even just a print can get pricey once you add in framing. I have two large walls in my house that were just begging for some art but until recently I couldn’t find anything that I both liked and could afford. That is until I discovered the peel and stick posters from SnapBox. They graciously provided me with the prints I used for this project but I absolutely would choose this option again on my own! I printed a 30×40 size poster and it comes in at just under $40!
I gave a peek of this project on my Summer Home Tour.
I had lots of questions about where I purchased the oversized art so I am excited to finally share how I accomplished this look for very little work or money.
You’ll Need:
sheet of acrylic (1/print)
(I picked mine up at Lowes or you can order here)
screws
bolts
credit card

First let’s look back and these walls before they had any personality.

I knew I wanted something big to make an impact but it also needed to be able to withstand some splashing. My kids usually take baths in my bathroom and the walls get covered with water most nights. It dawned on me that the DIY acrylic framing I used in my dining room would be a great solution.
Now the kids can splash away and nothing gets damaged.
Finding and mounting these sheets of acrylic takes little more than drilling the holes and putting screws in the wall. But first, you have to find the art! I knew I wanted a simple botanical print so I searched through Etsy. I found DN Graphics and fell in love with all of her printable. I especially loved the simplistic feel of the botanical drawings. I sent the shop owner a quick message asking if she could format the prints I chose to print in a larger size (30×40) and within minutes she had my order set up. I purchased the prints and then uploaded the files to SnapBox. Couldn’t have been any easier!
My posters arrived a few days later and I was so impressed with the quality. The posters are fabric so they have a great weight and texture but your print still shows up smoothly. I just unrolled them and then stuck them on the wall. It does help to have a second set of eyes to stand back and help you get it centered before pressing it to the wall. I started at the top and then slowly used my hands to flatten it out. It is also important to use a credit card to press out the air bubbles.
For the most part you can work out any bubbles by gently guiding them to the sides.
I am so happy with how my prints turned out!
My bathroom is really my favorite room in our house. It’s my sanctuary of lotions and girly stuff and I love having a little escape from the chaos of some days.
I highly recommend these posters if you are looking for an easy way to accomplish large-scale art or photos. You may recall this playroom in which I used the same peel and stick posters. We created this great oversized gallery wall and it was such an easy and inexpensive way to cover a large wall.
