I am a firm believer that your surroundings affect your creativity. Your environment should inspire you and bring out your best ideas so your decor should be tuned into the things you love. I recently worked with my sister, Lauren, to help her create a home office that would jumpstart her creativity.
We started by gathering inspiration for the space. She has a background in fashion and also has a soft spot for tropical locations….
We started by gathering inspiration for the space. She has a background in fashion and also has a soft spot for tropical locations….
We also looked through her Pinterest boards to pinpoint some common threads among her pins…
She clearly has a thing for bright pops of color and gold!
We had a clear picture of how she would use this space and the general feeling it should have but we needed to pick a foundation for it all…paint!
I went to Lowe’s to check out the new HGTV Home for Sherwin Williams.
This new line of paints is carried in all Lowe’s stores now and they make it really simple to find a cohesive color story for your house.
I narrowed in on a beautiful wall color…
They have taken out all of the guesswork when it comes to choosing cohesive colors. You can quickly look through the palettes they have grouped and see what colors would look best together. This is great if you are creating a flow from room to room but I found it helpful even just to plan within one room. We only planned to paint one color but the Softer Side collection gave me great ideas for other colors to pull in through accessories.
The room was pretty blank when we started…
And here is the same view after…
The paint color changed everything!
It is a perfect mint/aqua and provides such a bright and soothing background.
And here is a view of the bed wall before any color was introduced…
And after…
Working form the palette we were able to infuse colors that would only enhance the new fresh look.
Lauren is my go-to girl for client pillow needs!
But this office is not all work and no play…
It’s a great place to hang with girlfriends and have a cocktail!
I am jealous of her new workspace but I foresee lots of happy hours in this bright fun space!
The paint for this project was provided by Sherwin Williams for Lowe’s but all opinions are 100% mine.
