May is ending which means my birthday month can begin!! I cannot believe it is already June but I can go with it! Before I get to my favorite project this month, I need to pick your brain about my most confusing project of the moment. I have already reached out to some blog friends (thank you Abby, Summer, Bethany, and Mallory) and now I am opening up the question for any and all. I am currently working on a client library and I am completely stumped. My original plan for the room looked a little like this:
Now on to the Best of My Nest. This past month was a blur but I know for sure what project was my absolute favorite- my One Room Challenge brunch. To celebrate the culmination of that project along side some other bloggers was the best! I loved meeting Summer, Mallory, and Bethany in real life and I can’t wait for more blogger get togethers (little did they know that I would be hitting them up for design advice:) ). Here was my table set-up…

Girl you know how to throw a party! I love all the fun details you put into your table and outdoor space. So festive and happy!
I feel like there is a LOT of wood in the space you are designing. I think they would look amazing painted white, maybe with the backs painted in some deep shade to compliment that gorgeous sofa!! I have a whole pinboard of bookcases, maybe you'll find something on there! http://www.pinterest.com/shineblog/bookcases-and-open-shelving/

How about painting them gray or a crazy color like yellow? It's just paint right? 😉 Love the tablescape!! So darling!

I would definitely paint them white…and I like Lisa's suggestion about painting the backs if you want more color. Love all the details on your "tassel party"…I would have fit right in with my white pants and batik print top! 😉 Have a great weekend.

i also vote painting them white! that is a whole lot of wood- the blue sofa will really pop off the white!

I am already ready to come back for another amazing brunch! I would definitely go with white {although you know that already} and possibly a color or pattern in the background 🙂
Carrie @ Cosy Carolina Interiors says
I think I would try doing something to the back of the shelves first and see if that's enough shazam (but I am the laziest painter in the world!). I love your tassel party! It makes me wish I lived closer so I could hang out with all of you! 🙂

Beth- your party looked so festive and fun! You are so creative.
The room you are designing is going to be fantastic! I have a whole section on my Pintrest board too of inspiration:

For our home we did a whole wall with built in bookshelves and painted it white and interior gray

I really like the idea of painting the back a different color- maybe a peacock color to match the sofa. Can't wait to see it!

I remember when you posted that thinking, "I want to go to the fun blogger brunch at Beth's!!" 🙂 I loved all your great ideas, and how exciting to meet everyone IRL!
I'd paint them white in second or even a darker moody color if they're up for that vibe. I LOVE your board with that awesome rug, too! Thanks for sharing at Best of the Nest!
Julia Konya says
I totally think white would be awesome. I can see it with a great rug and beautifully styled shelves. I think just do it
Kimberly Lemmon says
First of all I love that vintage sofa! I think white would be beautiful behind that sofa and maybe paint the backs coral or another color you pull from the rug. Or if you wanted a little -ok a lot – of drama paint them black!
Jennifer @ Dimples and Tangles says
I love your blogger lunch party idea so much, and the decor couldn't have been cuter. Thanks for linking up with us for Best of the Nest Beth!
Kris @ Driven by Décor says
When's your next blogger brunch because I'm feeling like I really missed out 🙂 Love the fun, simple style that you used to decorate for it. As far as your bookcase, I think it would be beautiful in white but I'd do something interesting with the back of the bookcase – maybe a fun wallpaper that ties in the color of the sofa!
