Today I wanted to share a little hallway update that I made recently.
It is the hallway that leads to our kids bedrooms and it was looking pretty sad.
Seeing it now in this picture it kind of looks like a scary hospital or something.
It was just one of those areas that got overlooked since it’s not a “room.”
It’s usually the make overs of these ignored areas that make me the happiest.
Ahhhh, let there be light!
This make over started with some really simple art for the walls. I bought a bunch of scrapbook paper…I used that instead of regular construction paper because it is a studier paper and comes in better range of colors. I let my oldest trace some shapes and then I cut them out. We glued them down in a variety of arrangements and then framed them in IKEA’s Nyttja frames. I hung them with Command Picture hanging Strips. Easy Peasy.
I love the color these prints bring to the space and I also added some other fun accessories, including my new 5-minute project…tassels! You already saw them here. I couldn’t help but add a couple to this little table too. I have debated painting this inexpensive table for years, but I decided to forgo the paint for some bright accessories. Sometimes you don’t have to paint every piece of furniture!
I found the cute chalkboard jar at Michael’s. They had a whole new aisle of very Anthropologie-esque canisters and dishes. All of it was really affordable but throw in one of those 50% off coupons and forgetaboutit.
I played around with the styling a bit…
And landed on this…
Everything is always better with some greenery…
And a chubby little baby 🙂

They are definitely a warm welcome when I venture upstairs now! Much more so than the piles of toys, scattered books, misplaced dirty clothes….

gloomy hospital look has been kicked to the curb! love the color combo and the simple shapes translate to a great graphic punch for me, works for any age … not just kiddos. The jar a dreams is a sweet touch.
