Alright friends, it’s been just over a month since I confessed my goals for 2013.
As promised, I am back today for a check-in on my progress.
So…here goes.
Personal
1. Get healthy…run a 5K, take tennis lessons
ummm. yeah still trying to motivate to get to the gym.
It’s on the calendar for next week. Swear.

2. Go to Nashville with Taylor
Have not booked anything…yet!
3. Plan some girl’s trips: one with my besties and another with my mom and sisters
Booked a trip to Ft. Lauderdale in April with 8 girlfriends!
It is going to be awesome.
It is going to be awesome.
4. Visit both of my grandmothers more often
So far I have driven to SC twice to see them.
They love so much getting to see their great-grands!
5. Eat dinner together at the table at least 2/week
This one is tricky due to Taylor’s unpredictable schedule
but we are doing pretty good.
And I have to say I notice a big difference in how my kids eat.
They have better manners and are trying lots of new things.

6. Less computer/tv/phone time for me and my kids
I have scaled way back on my own personal time spent on the computer.
The kids…eh, they are still pretty addicted to all things electronic.
Working on this still…
7. Organize the backlog of pictures on my computer
I have delegated one Sunday/month for picture organizing.
I leave for a couple of hours, sip a hot chocolate, and organize that month’s pictures.
That means: upload, edit, share, and order.
I have done this on 1 Sunday so far and
I can tell you that this resolution is my least favorite so far.

If I ever win the lottery I am going to pay someone to do this chore for me.
8. Streamline the way I clean my house
A whole post devoted to this in the coming weeks.
9. Plan a monthly outing with friends
We kicked off the New Year with a new tradition: Mystery Date Night.
Us and a group of about 10 couples plan one outing every 4-6 weeks.
The rules are that one couple plans a date night for the group and only gives
everyone advance notice on the time, attire, an idea of cost, and a meet-up spot.
Taylor and I planned the first one…mexican food and an indoor trampoline place.
And no, not in that order.
It is freaking hilarious to play trampoline dodgeball with your friends.
10. Incorporate some type of service project with my kids once a month
Our goal is to do 12 acts of kindness this year.
Next week I will give you more details on how and what we are getting done!
Work
1. Only blog when I have something original to share
I guess I should ask you all how I am doing on this?!
I have scaled back my time on blogging so I hope that
what I have decided to post has been meaningful
to at least some of you.
2. Keep posts to mainly my house projects or client projects

Again, I have stopped posting as much so I can do more.
I have made some tweaks around my house and have started
working on 2 playrooms, a bedroom, and a living room.
(See some of my tweaks here and here and here)
3. Increase e-design clients

Still looking to up things in this department so referrals welcome.
So that’s how things are coming along with my resolutions.
I have to say, I think a big part of reaching goals is setting realistic ones in the first place.
Yeah, those years I resolved to not drink wine before 4pm or only do laundry once/week
never quite worked out.
But, when I challenge myself to buy an assorted dozen from Krispy Kreme
once a week, I am amazed by my dedication.

We have 10 months left in 2013…plenty of time to plan and tackle!
See ya March 7th for another check-in.

I'd say your efforts are admirable and at least you have a plan! I don't think blogging less is very noticeable, since there are people that do post something new on your off days..it's ok, we aren't as paranoid about it as we used to be either. The most important thing is your family and your health ( mental!) Keep up the good work and best of luck in month 2!

Thanks Nancy! I feel a little shift in blogging too…I think everyone is starting to see the need for balance. Have a great weekend!

Great post Beth…thanks for the honesty! I like how the important things like date night, and girls trips rise to the top and get done while other not so important things like running and going to the gym are still in the works! 🙂 Nice to know I am not the only one with the same priorities!
ps…did you say you once tried to stop drinking wine? never!

I never thought about it like that, but yes, I am glad too that my priorities are lining up this way! And I know- what was I thinking on the wine?!

I'd say you are doing okay! Most of us forgot our resolutions already! Ha!!
