how to decorate this room for $1500
New idea alert…try to hold your excitement dear friends! The questions I get most frequently while wearing my “decorator hat” seem to relate to budget. Most people, me being one of them, want to know how much things cost before they even let their mind wonder to the possibility of decorating a room. Sure we all want that Pinterest-worthy house, but can it happen when your budget doesn’t extend to the thousands?? In my world the answer is always yes! In fact, sometimes my personal budget doesn’t even reach the hundreds but I still think it is possible to make changes that will give your rooms character and a pulled-together feel.
Today I will give you an example of a standard room and what could be done with it for $1500. Remember that we are starting with a completely empty room…no furniture, no decor whatsoever! So without further ado, I give you the blank canvas…
In fact, we will need some seating, lighting, window treatments, a rug, and accessories.
The $1500 room…
Inexpensive tweaks:
Jazz up the coffee table with a gold/brass spray paint
Hang an inexpensive mirror, like the one pictured from Kirkland’s, over the fireplace.
Utilize baskets for storage…cheap ones can be found at Wal-Mart, HomeGoods, or even Goodwill.
Create an easy and nearly FREE gallery wall by tearing pages directly from a botanical book or by making color copies and hanging them with decorative tape.
Don’t forgo the impact of window treatments just because your budget doesn’t allow for custom.
Use simple white panels like these and make sure to hang them high and wide to give the illusion grand windows.
For a full list of my sources, check out this room on my Polyvore page.
So, that was kinda fun! Maybe next time I will show you the possibilities with a lot less. A $500 room? I am up for it are you??
