Am I the only one who stock piles magazines for an upcoming trip? I have to force myself not to read any magazine I receive in the mail the week before a trip so that I can devour them on the plane ride. It is torture but so worth it when I need a distraction from take-off and landing. Otherwise I am forced to over-analyze every bump and noise and facial expression of the flight attendants.
So on this trip I finally cracked open January’s Elle Decor and woah baby!! I found the dream home I have always wanted on page 119. These restored fisherman huts in the Portuguese coastal town of Comporta have completely stolen my heart. A Portuguese businessman, Joao Miguel Rodriguez enlisted the help of a Lisbon-based architect, Manuel Aires Mateus to transform three of these huts into little rustic getaways with some serious high-tech touches. My favorite upgrade that still showcases the natural elements? The sand floors that are warmed by a heated sub-floor. Honey, I’m home…
