Ok, I lied. Yesterday I told you that I would be back today with more details about my master bedroom but there’s been a little change of plans. I will share those details on Thursday but today is all about my living room! I have hand-picked some awesome ladies to come in and virtually finish my living room in a series I am calling
1 room, 10 minds, 1 Design
and today is my very first virtual appointment. I decided to do this series because I needed fresh eyes and a new perspective on this room. I have too many ideas and no clue all at the same time. I know somewhere in my brain how I want this room to look but I always get tripped up. My only guidelines for “my designers” were to incorporate these pieces that are currently in the room…
I will be using my IKEA Ektorp sectional and probably one of those coffee tables. I am currently using a Pottery Barn Kids train table, which we made over with a chalkboard top and casters. If I do keep that option I want to paint the rest of it black so it will appear more like the one above. Or I want to scrap that table altogether and use the IKEA Kragsta table. I really feel like the room needs something round and the smaller dimensions would give us a little more room should we want to add additional seating.
I have made even a few more small changes since this photo but I will save those for when I do my reveal. But, one of the major changes was a new rug. I worked with RugsUSA to kick off this whole makeover and they have provided me with two great rugs. I wanted to do the layered rug look so I started with a jute rug and I have chosen a top layer rug that I think will really pull the room together. It took me forever to choose a rug because they have so many great ones but I finally did it. I can’t wait to see what the other girls choose…hopefully they don’t make me totally second-guess my choice!
Now let’s get to today’s inspiration from Mallory of Charming in Charlotte. Mallory is my girl y’all! She is right here in Charlotte but her style is very different from mine. She is one of those people who can put together a room in a way I would never think of yet I love it. Every time she reveals a room in her house I suddenly want to go all vintage, girly, classic, glam. Hence, why I asked her to share a little of that vision with me! Let’s see how Mallory sees my living room…
Hi friends! Beth was so sweet to ask me to be a part of this fun new series she’s hosting called “1 Room, 10 Minds, 1 Design” where 10 of us bloggers virtually re-design her living room using our favorite RugsUSA rugs. Such a fun take on re-designing your own space is to see how others would work your layout and also how they would incorporate your existing pieces into the design. I’ve been to Beth’s darling house, so I have a good understanding of the layout of her living room and here’s my take on how I would design it, centered around my favorite RugsUSA hide and using her existing pieces.
…And here’s how I would design around them..layering in the Silkscreen Zebra Cowhide Rug from RugsUSA, warming up the the neutral base tones with rich greens and deep oranges and layering pattern and more texture with the leather chair and poufs.
Beth, how did I do? Designing a space for a wildly creative friend was much harder than I thought!
Ummm Mallory you did great! I love the gold poufs and Taylor rarely picks out decor that he likes but he just the other day he showed me a buffalo print and said he thought it was really cool. Christmas gift? Just maybe! And I have heard great things about hide rugs. They apparently handle traffic and stains really well so they would work great in this house!
A BIG thank you to Mallory and her spot-on taste (for more of that make sure to go check out her home and mother-daughter outfit posts!) Can’t wait to see how it works into my final reveal! And I have a lot more inspiration coming over the next few weeks so make sure to follow along the series! And just by coincidence I will be participating an idea that Mallory dreamed up beginning tomorrow! It is so good and is going to get you so excited about the holidays. Trust me, you want to come back tomorrow and see what I’m talking about!

what a great option!! I loved Mallory's design. And I love the idea of this blog feature. I can't wait to see the boards of the other designers and what you end up going with.
